Discern Interior Movements of Healing and Intimacy with God
Jesus’ Healing Power, Luke 4:33-44
Come into God’s (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) loving presence. Feel God’s loving gaze. Offer yourself completely to God.
Silently sit before God for 10 minutes.
Read Luke 4:33-44 five times very slowly. The time, simply and reverently read it, allowing God’s word to flow over you. The time be aware of any verse word, phrase or concept that God is revealing to you as you read. Meditate silently for several minutes what the Lord has given you. During the reading allow a prayer to formulate in your heart and offer that prayer to God. As the Scripture is read a time, allow yourself to be drawn into the biblical scene as if you are living it right now. Be aware of any physical sensations, thoughts, or emotions that may arise. Journal your experience in detail. The and final reading should be a reading of unknowing. Simply rest in the mystery of God’s presence and God’s Word, peacefully and with great joy.
Journal important aspects of the entire experience.
Read the following as food for thought:
We are walking again. A crowd has begun to follow Jesus. I watch as Jesus casts a demon out from a man in the synagogue. I watch as Jesus takes the fever from Peter’s mother in law. I watch as Jesus heals many. I am awe struck. Jesus just moves freely, no hurry. He addresses each person with equal compassion and dignity. No fanfare. Again Jesus looks me in the eye asking the same question, “What do you want from me, Gene?” This time I say, “Lord, I want to see these people as you see them.” Suddenly I feel as if I am absorbed into a whole new Reality. Everyone is connected by light. I feel love and compassion for all the people and all creation. It is a liminal place. I have not left the place I was standing, but I see more. Awareness and presence is overwhelming, so much so that I am unable to take it all in with my senses alone. As I get my bearings, somewhat, I see Jesus touch a sick person. Light shines within the person, but also in all those around Jesus, including me. It appears that healing is not an individual thing, but a collective. I no longer am feeling myself as an individual only as one connected to everything. Then after what seemed like several minutes, I found myself back standing in the exact place I had been before the experience. Jesus however, was at least 100 feet away. It appears as if what I saw occurred in a timeless manner, a place of a higher consciousness.
